Add about 1/2 to 1 kilogram of live rock per liter (1-2 pounds per gallon). The more porous the live rock, the better. You can also start with about half live rock, and half "dead" base rock, that will eventually become colonized turn into live rock. This can save you a lot of money.
It dosn't matter what live rock you use.
MAKE sure it is COMPLETELY cured before you buy it and your cycle will go VERY FAST.
Buy what YOU think will look good in your tank and mix and match if you want (I DO)
The pink purpley stuff that the other guy was talking about is Called CORALINE ALGAE and it will grow on your rocks and glass over time (Good Algae) with the propper lighting and calcium levels.
